In 2017, after decades of offering Mass in a maintenance shed in Lake Worth, Providence allowed us to acquire a real church in West Palm Beach.
Located in the South of Old Northwood Historic District of West Palm Beach, this two-story building used to be a Baptist church built in the 30s'. A 20 feet high ceiling in native bold cyprus gives to the 10,000 square feet a majestic religious atmosphere. The sloping floor leads to the sanctuary lighted with two stain-glassed ogived windows. On each side, seven stain-glassed windows give a good light to the church. The property offers a 30-place parking lot.
A much-needed renovation
In the first phase, all electrical, plumbing and AC systems need to be changed. The floor has to be stripped off and replaced. Sacristy cabinets, pews for the faithful, confessionals and a lift for handicap access need to be installed inside the bell tower. Doors and basement windows need to be changed, the stain-glass windows need to be refurbished. Spiral stairs will be installed in the towers to give access to the choir loft. Meanwhile, it is in the basement that the Mass is currently said.
In a second phase, when the works will allow us to use the upper story of the building for the Liturgy, extensive remodeling will be conducted in the basement to accommodate a social hall, prep-kitchen, meeting room, and the priest apartment.
In the last phase, fences, gate, parking lot resurfacing and landscape will complete the project.
In a special ceremony after the remodeling of the building, we will baptize and install the new bell.
A careful preparation
Thanks to the sale of the Lake Worth property, the acquisition of this new location has been made without a loan. The architectural remodeling plans are made and we are now in the process of biding for the companies to realize the works above described. These 90,000 dollars are paid thanks to the patient saving and donations of our dedicated faithful. At this point, however, fundraising is needed to follow up with the plan!
The funds necessary to complete the work are estimated under $1.000.000. We are working hard to carefully chose the best options. Please consider to help us advance this project! You can send your checks, labeled to Queen of the Most Holy Rosary - SSPX to:
